As-salamu alaykum! My name is Ryan, and I live in occupied Turtle Island (AKA “the united states”). I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend, Osama, and his family, who are from Gaza but had to flee to Egypt after the genocide began.

While they’ve fortunately been able to escape, their situation is still extremely difficult and they’re in urgent need of funds for the following:

1. Supporting their family still in Gaza: Their family in Gaza are being starved to death and bombarded with “israeli” missiles daily—a few family members were recently killed in IOF airstrikes. Due to the siege, the cost of goods is exorbitantly high, with a single bag of flour costing more than $400, so it’s a matter of life or death that they receive funds.

2. Rent and basic necessities: The cost of rent and expenses in Egypt is very steep due to the large number of refugees there. Osama works 12 hours a day at a supermarket that overexploits and underpays him just $100/month— nowhere near enough to cover all of his family’s expenses, which includes food, clothing, and school supplies for his children.

3. Medical expenses: Osama’s wife is currently unable to walk and needs physical therapy and surgery. His daughter Rafeef has severe trauma-induced mental health issues that have resulted in significant hair loss, so they are also hoping to raise money for a synthetic wig. His son Naeem also has a skin condition on his hand that requires laser surgery. He also needs to cover the cost of medicine for his family.

4. Transportation: Osama needs to help his wife get to and from the hospital so she can continue receiving her monthly physical therapy sessions and treatment.

5. Buying an apartment: Given how expensive rent is, Osama is hoping to eventually save up enough money to buy an apartment in Egypt for his family, which costs around $60,000 for the cheapest and smallest ones.

Osama’s family lost everything from the genocide. The IOF destroyed the house that he spent over 20 years building that he completed just months before October ’23. His old factory in Gaza that he worked at was also burned down by Zionist settlers.

This fundraiser provides an opportunity for his family to start anew. Please consider contributing monthly since they need continued support, but even a single donation can make a difference. Osama is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, and he and his family deserve a life of dignity and peace. Thank you so much for your support ❤️
